A scathing review

Among notorious reviews there is that of E. Lobel's about Edmonds' first volume of his Loeb edition of the Greek Lyric Poets. It is entitled 'Dyra Graeca' and features such turns of phrase as 'so many hundreds of novelties', 'its most enlivening characteristics', and 'powers of divination not ordinarily vouchsafed to humanity'.

See CR 1922, p. 120.
