It's in the B(D)AG

I found this gem of colloquial glossing a few months ago in BDAG under ἀνθρωπαρεσκέω and ἀνθρωπάρεσκος:

be a people-pleaser, court/curry the favor of people (connoting sacrifice of principle; cp. our colloq. 'play up to' or 'be an apple-polisher')

one who tries to make an impression on others, fawner, timeserver

One might alter the latter 'to make a{n} impression on others'.
