Metre, part 1: the phalaecian hendecasyllable

I thought that I would start a series illustrating the metres of Greek and Latin verse from English poetry. We will start with the hendecasyllable used extensively by Catullus and Martial among others.

O you chorus of indolent reviewers
Irresponsible, indolent reviewers,
Look, I come to the test, a tiny poem
All composed in a metre of Catullus.
