A Rival Cake Seminar?

Until yesterday afternoon I thought that the Cake Seminar was an invention of some Cambridge graduate students in the spring of 2005. Then I read in the acknowledgements in the praefatio (p. XXXVII) to M.L. West's edition of the Iliad:

Revellus Coles qua est humanitate phototypa papyrorum Oxyrhynchicarum, quotiens mihi opus erat, adire permisit, alioquin consilio adiuvit, laborantem potibus caffeinis, panibus zingiberatis sublevavit.

zingiberi -is n. is an Indic loanword - via Greek - referring to ginger.
